It’s been a good few days for online mentions of my music. Huge thanks to Scarlet Nguni and Rachel Briant for the mention and review!

“He’s like my brother, I adore him and his music – a cross between Death Cab For Cutie (think I’ll Follow You into the Dark) and what Damien Rice might sound like if he took a steady stream of Prozac.”

“Above all, Nate Maingard is a brilliant lyricist. Listening to his album I am enthralled at his ability to string words together in a way that is altogether intriguing, imaginative and chilling. Combined with sensitive guitar chords, it’s enough to give you spine tingles.”
—Rachel Briant in Muse Magazine interview

Had a difficult experience last night. I arrived for my gig at the Blue Bird Market in Muizenberg, set up all my gear and switched on only to realize that my amp wasn’t working. Nothing I did could fix it so I had to cancel the gig. I’ve never had gear issues before and I was so sad to let down all the people who were waiting for me to play…and I was so excited to play too! My friend Wilbert even drove out super far to come and play bass with me. The lesson here is to CHECK MY GEAR in the week, not just rely on the fact that it’s always worked perfectly in the past.

Big thanks to the woman who bought my album ‘cos she’d come to hear me play and wasn’t amped on going home without listening to me, so she bought the CD! Nice:).

Thanks to Wilbert for coming all the way, to Dylan for being understanding and getting me amped for next friday and thanks to all the stallholders and guests who always make me feel welcome at the Blue Bird Market.

Now getting my house ready for tonight’s DieselVanilla gig. Come along to Pincushion Cottage for some seriously delicious honey-coated folk tunes. Be prepared to be enchanted.

Pray my amp is easily repaired:).

Enjoy the moment my friends, it’s all you have.
